3rd Annual Dinner and Concert Fundraiser

for the Yakima Morelia Sister City Association

The Yakima-Morelia Sister City Association presents its third-annual dinner and concert fundraiser, Fiesta en Mayo, on Friday, May 1, 2009. The evening, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Association, will begin at Le Chateau (15 N Naches Ave) at 6pm with a traditional Mexican dinner provided by Fiesta Foods. Margaritas, wine, and beer will also be available.

Andre Feriante, award-winning, neo-flamenco/classical guitar virtuoso, performs “A Wonderful Mother’s Day” on Mother’s Day at the Seasons Performance Hall. He will salute Northwest mothers, along with several guest musicians. Feriante will also honor special mothers with roses and complimentary CDs, and throughout the concert, each performer will share stories about their own mothers.

Alexander Tchobanov was reported as a “true virtuoso and master of the piano” by one of the national Bulgarian newspapers following a recital in his native city of Plodiv, Bulgaria upon his return home from studies at Rutgers University in 2005.
As a young boy of ten he was awarded second prize in “Svetoslav Obretenov,” the National Bulgarian competition in 1990.  As a teenager Mr. Tchobanov came to the United States to continue his musical studies while completing high school.  He was a semi-finalist in the 1999 Spotlights Competition in Los Angeles.  Upon his graduation from the Idyllwild Arts Academy, Mr. Tchobanov was awarded Best Recital of the Year and featured on the Academy’s official CD.
In 2000 he was awarded second prize at the Temecula Artist Competition.  The same year, Mr. Tchobanov was invited to perform in live recital with concert pianist and radio host Christopher O’Riley.

 Joseph Brooks, clarinet with Timothy Betts, viola will        team up with Anne Schilperoort, piano to present  musical fairy tales, fables, and romances.  they will be  joined by Ron Grey, narrator. Two of the featured  composers include Robert Schumann and Max Bruce.

A Benefit for The Seasons Performance Hall

On Friday, May 29, all locals with a talent, and a passion to perform it, are invited to become contestants for Yakima’s Got Talent, the Seasons Performance Hall’s first fundraiser in 2009.  Are you a starving artist, a stand-up comedian, secretly learning to levitate, or longing to sing in the spotlight? Whatever your forte, this is your opportunity to astonish on the mainstage and win the grand prize of $500 cash and a limo ride to Seattle for a weekend getaway.
