Doug Ramsey Reviews PDXV, Incoming Seasons Artists
We have a varied and dynamic weekend upcoming at The Seasons. Portland jazz musicians PDXV and Rebecca Kilgore take the stage Friday night, long time blues musicians Alice Stuart and The Formerly's play on Saturday and Sunday brings world famous recording artists, The Celtic Tenors.
Jazz critic, journalist and blogger, Doug Ramsey, has given a wonderful review of PDXV Vol 1 & 2 in his blog, Rifftides. His description will give you an idea of the inspiring artistry PDXV will bring to the stage Friday evening. Check out his full blog here.
Rebecca Kilgore, recently featured on NPR's "Fresh Air with Terry Gross" will be singing with PDXV. Here is a link to her in- studio concert: A tribute to one of the most famous and prolific American song composers, Johnny Mercer, who penned “Skylark,” “Come Rain or Come Shine,” and “Moon River”. Looking for Rebecca's most recent appearance on Fresh Air, I stumbled onto a prior in-studio concert Rebecca performed in 2005. This is a link to her performance of holiday songs with Terry Gross. Though it's not the holidays, I started thinking that maybe we should invite Kilgore back in December. After you listen, you'll know why.
