Listen to "What a Wonderful World" From Rise

If you missed Chris Thomas King’s last two packed out performances, here’s your chance to see him on his return trip. Known as a pioneer and innovator of blues and rap, Time Magazine says, “His songs boast a crunching blues beat, brash guitars and howling harmonica solos.”
King will be performing an exclusive solo show. “For me to perform solo it has to be in the right room or in a theater. Performing solo works best when the audience can hear every word and note I’m playing,” King muses. The Seasons is the perfect place for such an intimate experience with an artist.

As a multi-talented artist and Grammy winner, King has written more than 150 songs that are in demand for license to motion pictures and Chris Thomas King has acted in or scored more than a dozen films. Most notably, King has been featured as a musician and co-starred in “Ray” and “O brother where art thou”.  The soundtrack to "O Brother Where Art Thou" went number one on the billboard pop charts. He has also appeared in several documentaries about the blues and about music, including, Last Of The Mississippi Jukes (2004), Lightning in a Bottle (2004),The Soul of a Man (2003)(produced by Martin Scorsece).  King is also featured in the  Smithsonian Channel documentary hosted by Oscar winner Morgan Freeman, “Sound Revolution” as himself.

Chris Thomas King is the son of respected Louisiana bluesman and club owner Tabby Thomas and was surrounded by a diverse musical scene from a very young age. He began playing trumpet in sixth grade and learned guitar shortly thereafter, soaking up as much as he could by hanging out at his father's club. The young Thomas was influenced by rock (especially Jimi Hendrix), soul, and early hip-hop. From electric and acoustic blues, funky soul, New Orleans R&B to hip-hop, these dynamic influences can be heard in his music, from his debut album, released in 1986, to his present projects. As king says "When people ask me why go out on a limb with your music, I say that's where the fruit is."

King's Latest Release, "Home" is a suite of songs inspired by the rich musical culture of the old French Quarter, conveying aspects of romance, melancholy and wonderment with fresh arrangements
and melodies that trumpets a rebirth. King and his musicians have succeeded in conjuring a fresh adult pop album laced with authentic jazz, classical and blues sensibilities. "Home" comes from a place King would like to return to. “Imagine sitting at a street café sipping wine or coffee
listening to a trumpet or an accordion played from a nearby balcony, or getting lost in the music of a street musician while a horse and carriage stroll down Basin Street. Just forgetting the hustle and bustle.” As King describes the southern charm of his hometown you can almost hear the jazzy pop melodies of his new suite of songs.
